Beginner’s Kids Jiu-Jitsu Class
At Scott Savage Jiu-Jitsu Academy, our Beginner’s Kids Jiu-Jitsu classes are designed to build a strong foundation in the essential skills every young Jiu-Jitsu practitioner needs before advancing to more complex techniques. In this class, students will learn the basics of hip escapes, positional mechanics, and age-appropriate submissions. Alongside these fundamental techniques, we emphasize the importance of safety in grappling, including mastering break-falls, understanding submission tolerances (both in applying them and when they are applied), and avoiding injuries through safe yet effective sparring.
Our beginner classes are approximately one hour long and are structured to be both engaging and educational. Each session typically includes a brief warm-up, a focused discussion on technique, and voluntary sparring. During the technique segment, students receive clear explanations and hands-on practice with partners, with coaches and the Professor providing individualized guidance to ensure understanding.

Sparring is often the highlight of the class, offering students an exciting opportunity to apply the techniques they’ve learned in a controlled and supportive environment. Our coaching staff is always present to offer advice and ensure that Jiu-Jitsu is practiced safely.
Beyond the physical benefits, Jiu-Jitsu has a profound positive impact on mental well-being. At Scott Savage Jiu-Jitsu Academy, we take pride in serving as role models for our young students, guiding them not just in martial arts but in developing discipline, confidence, and respect.
